Well, that's pretty cool!
Global Guru's is a research organisation that conducts a top 30 list across a range of categories from leadership, to motivational speakers and negotiation.
I made it on to the list this year, I want to express my deep gratitude for this award and say thank you to Global Guru's and all of the readers of my books, students of my courses and trainings and anyone who's been part of the journey.
My goal has always been to help demystify the topic of negotiation, to help others achieve their big goals, dreams and vision. The big thing I saw over a decade ago was that incredible amounts of value was being left on the table due to a lack of awareness and skill application in the area of negotiation.
I decided to address that with The Art of Negotiation with the aim of helping others structure their everyday negotiations for success, whether that was by having a plan, not winging it or by getting clear on what it was they actually wanted.
We've come a long way.

3 years to write the book, rejected by many publishers, told there was no need for this book by literary critics, informed that we already had The Art Of The Deal by Donald Trump so why bother.
But these agents hadn't seen what I'd seen, they hadn't worked with the best negotiators in the world, striking complex deals before breakfast, lunch and dinner, day in and day out.
To me it was obvious people were struggling to negotiate everyday in their lives and they needed a guide to help them. Their reference points were movies like Wall Street with power hungry executive boardroom showdowns or bad leaders in their places of employment that used tactics like deception, deceit to trickery to make profitable deals happen. If this is where they were getting their 'negotiation lessons' its no wonder people were just wining it, not thinking strategically or applying any real skill to the art of negotiation.
I knew this wasn't how great negotiators operated, because I had seen it, because I was living it.
Their doubt drove me harder, I rewrote the entire manuscript, found an editor who believed in my vision and got to work.
In March 2018 I received the first copy, sitting in a Mexican restaurant in Manly, Australia.

To think my first book came out exactly 7 years ago is mad, the impact, the journey, the friendships, the speaking engagements, the lives, the bonds made, its been a blast - but we are not done yet!
It's about making the world a better place through better negotiations. Think about it, if we all had a little more empathy, skill in the area of influence and persuasion, maybe, just maybe we could avoid the swath of missed opportunities, lost deals and lack of creation that occurs regularly.
We all face negotiations, daily, we just don't always recognise that we are in fact in one, that we have options, flexibility, agility and the ability to create the life we want.
After about a year of hard graft hustling and promoting the book, it started to take off. Sales, book stores, the wheels were turning, people were writing to me, telling me how the book had helped them in the job interviews, make more money, get a whole new life!

It was mirarlous, watching people change their lives, this is the exact purpose of the book, and made all the 4am starts writing daily worth it. Book writing is no joke, but it gets easier the more you stick at it, the more you process your thoughts and turn them into your expression.
It's often the things you are afraid to write that help others the most.
Then we went supersonic, beating out authors I'd admired my whole life.
WHAT IS THIS LIFE!!!

Okay, this book really is helping, let's double down. When your gut instinct is telling you something, in this case, the world needs to understand how to negotiate with poise and grace so they can achieve their wildest dreams, take more risks, get the opportunity of a lifetime, what ever, you must follow it. The Universe makes way for the person that doesn't give up and keeps after their goal.
